Ogun VIO Trains Driving School Proprietors .

The Vehicle Inspection Office , ministry of Work & Infrastructure Ogun State ,   in conjunction with  Nigeria Driving School Proprietors Association ( NDSPA) Ogun State chapter organised a two day workshop for for the Driving School Proprietors in Ogun State on the team "  Effectiveness of Driving School In Producing Quality Drivers " .

The driving school Proprietors who attended the workshop in  a large across Ogun State at Amazing Grace Event Centre , Abeokuta , Ogun State were full of appreciation to the organizer of the programme . 

The programme which has Mr Ajala A. T mnitp , rtp, cmilt from Department of Transportation Planning and Management , Federal Polytechnic ,  Ilaro as guest speaker .

Mr Ajala said that the United Nation estimated a total 1.3million people who died of road crashes every year across the globe while 3,500 death occur each day day or 150 death per hour with 3 persons every minute. 

According to him , Nigeria was ranked the 65th out 126 country having 21.5% road traffic crashes death rate per 100, 000 according to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2011 .

Mr Ajala in the course of his lecture stressed the need for drivers education which the driving school Proprietors must emphasize in their day to day training of drivers . He implored them to see driving as a profession or vocation so as to produce good result .

" The problem of driving education in Nigeria is because we have some drivers who were badly orientated and now passing the same bad orientations to others ." he said . 

He advised the Driving school Proprietors that their teaching in their various school should reflect the three educational domain , I.e Cognitive , Affective and Psychomotor . He said this will bring about good result if they can implement while he urged them to be more focus in their training and not money .

The driving School Proprietors are therefore advised to review their curriculum to accommodate the three educational domain , instructional materials should be incorporated into their teaching everyday while regulatory institutions should do more especially in the area of testing the applicants .
